Advanced Services:

Ultrasound Services

One of the most common uses for an ultrasound in veterinary medicine is for reproductive services. Horses are diagnosed for pregnancy as early as 14 days gestational age. The ultrasound is also used to predict when a mare may ovulate, vital information when shipping cooled semen in to bred the mare. We can also find some reproductive abnormalities with the ultrasound. Other species commonly diagnosed for pregnancy using an ultrasound include dogs & cats as early as 21 days gestation, goats & sheep as early as 30-45 days, with a special probe attachment we can also us it in miniature horses.

Equine Power Float

Dental problems in horses can lead to difficulties eating, mouth injuries, tossing head when or not accepting a bit, sinus infections, and abcesses. Signs of dental disease are weight loss, dropping grain or hay while chewing, nasal discharge, facial swelling, undigested food in manure, and throwing head while riding.

Most dental problems are preventable by having a dental exam at least once a year and having your horses teeth floated. Sharp points that cause injury to the tongue and cheeks are ground down. Equipment like a power float makes the job quicker, more precise, and very thorough, this has benefit for the horse because it decreases stress, less chance of cutting the sides of the horses mouth, less likely to miss hard to reach areas, and the teeth will remain smooth longer.
